Starter & Alternator Replacement, On Location
When the car won't crank — or won't stay charged — the last thing you need is to figure out how to get it somewhere. We test and replace starters and alternators where the car sits.
The Other Two Reasons Cars Won't Start
The battery, the starter, and the alternator form your car's electrical heart, and when one fails the symptoms overlap: clicks, slow cranks, dead-again batteries. Replacing the wrong one is a common and costly mistake — and the whole diagnosis can happen wherever the car refuses to start.
We test all three where the car sits — battery load, starter draw, alternator output under load — and replace only the component that actually failed, with a quality unit matched to your vehicle.
Starter or Alternator? The Telltale Signs
Overlapping symptoms, different fixes:
Single Click, No Crank
Classic failing starter — especially if a jump-start doesn't help.
Battery Keeps Dying
A new battery that drains in days points at the alternator or a parasitic draw.
Whining or Grinding
A whine that rises with RPM, or grinding on start-up, is a bearing warning.
Battery Light On
The charging-system light means the alternator isn't keeping up. Get tested before you're stranded.
How the Visit Works
Test the Whole System
Battery, starter draw, alternator output, and cable connections — the diagnosis comes first.
Quote Before Work
You approve the part and the price before a single bolt comes out.
Quality Replacement
New or premium remanufactured units with a manufacturer warranty, installed to spec.
Verify Charging
We confirm proper cranking and charging voltage before we pack up.
Why This Is a Mobile Job
The Car Can't Drive Anyway
A no-crank car can't get to a repair facility without a tow. We skip that step entirely.
Tested in Place
Electrical faults are easiest to catch where they're happening — no 'couldn't reproduce it' runaround.
Same-Visit Fix
Common starters and alternators can often be sourced and installed the same day.
We Come to You
Wherever the car refuses to start — home, work, or a parking lot across the Wasatch Front.

FAQs
Jump-starting works but the car dies again while driving. What is it?
That pattern points strongly at the alternator — the engine runs off the battery until it's drained, then dies. Driving that way will strand you; have it tested where the car sits.
How long does a starter or alternator replacement take?
Most take 1–2 hours on location once the part is in hand. Some vehicles bury the starter under intake components and take longer — your quote includes a realistic time estimate.
Do replacement starters and alternators come with a warranty?
Yes — the units we install carry a manufacturer parts warranty, and we put the coverage in writing on your invoice.
Will a jump-start fix a bad starter?
No — a jump only helps a weak battery. If the battery tests healthy and you still get a single click when you turn the key, the starter motor or its solenoid is the likely fault, and it will keep stranding you until it's replaced.
Can a failing alternator ruin a new battery?
Yes. An undercharging alternator leaves the battery chronically drained, and repeated deep discharges shorten its life fast; an overcharging one can cook it outright. That's why we test charging output with every battery job — and battery condition with every alternator job.
