Check Engine Light Diagnostics at Your Door

A parts-store code read tells you what complained. We come to you with professional diagnostic equipment and find out why — so the repair targets the actual fault, the first time.

Find the Cause, Not Just the Code

A check engine light is your car's way of saying something is out of spec — but the trouble code alone rarely tells the whole story. A code for a lean-running engine might mean a failing oxygen sensor, or just a cracked vacuum hose — testing first means you fix the actual fault instead of replacing parts on a hunch.

We bring dealer-level scan tools and testing equipment to your driveway, read the codes, and then actually test the suspect systems — live sensor data, electrical checks, and physical inspection — so the diagnosis points at the real problem and the quote fixes it once.

When to Get It Diagnosed

Not every light is an emergency, but none of them should be ignored:

Steady Light

Something needs attention soon — get it read before it becomes expensive.

Flashing Light

Active misfire that can damage the catalytic converter. Stop driving and call.

Light Plus Symptoms

Rough idle, poor fuel economy, hesitation, or odd smells alongside the light.

How Mobile Diagnostics Work

  1. Full System Scan

We pull codes from every module — engine, transmission, ABS, airbag — not just the basics.

  2. Test, Don't Guess

Live data, electrical testing, and physical inspection confirm which component actually failed.

  3. Plain-English Findings

You get the cause, the fix, and an upfront quote — and what happens if you wait.

  4. Fix It on the Spot

Many repairs can be done the same visit if you approve the quote.

Why Diagnose Mobile?

No Risky Drive

If the light is flashing or the car runs rough, you shouldn't be driving it anywhere.

One Honest Answer

The person diagnosing has no service quota — you get what's wrong, not a menu.

Diagnosis Credits the Repair

Approve the repair and the diagnostic work rolls into the job.

FAQs

Is it safe to drive with the check engine light on?

A steady light with no other symptoms is usually safe to drive short-term, but should be diagnosed soon. A flashing light means an active misfire — unburned fuel is damaging the catalytic converter, and you should stop driving and get it looked at where it sits.

The parts store already read my code for free. Why pay for diagnostics?

A code read tells you which system complained; diagnostics tell you which part failed. Replacing parts off a code alone is how people go through three sensors before finding the cracked hose. Testing first beats guessing — you fix it once, correctly.

Can you turn the light off?

We can clear any code, but if the underlying fault is still there the light comes back. We'd rather fix the cause — then the light stays off and the car passes emissions.

Will my car pass Utah emissions with the check engine light on?

No — an illuminated check engine light is an automatic fail at Utah emissions stations, and Salt Lake, Davis, Utah, and Weber Counties all require testing. After a repair, the car's readiness monitors also need some normal driving before they reset, so don't leave the fix until the week your registration is due.

What if the problem needs shop equipment?

Some jobs — internal engine or transmission work, alignment racks — do need a facility. If your diagnosis points that way, we tell you straight, give you the findings in writing, and you take an answered question to the shop instead of a blank check.
